DIY: Vertical Garden / Green Wall

When our house was being constructed, I bought a lot of magazines and that's when I saw a green wall. I thought that it'd be nice to have one inside the house where the dirty kitchen is. But I'm not yet sure if it will look nice. I also don't know what kind of plants to use (Should we plant vegetables and herbs, or should we just go with ornamental plants).

We have another space beside the house and so I thought that we should start there. I asked one of the construction crew to build a frame where i can hang the plants similar to the MMDA vertical walls along EDSA.

Once the frame was in place, we just painted it with iron oxide to avoid rusting. Bought double vertical pots at 15Php each from a friend since it is cheaper than those being sold at QC circle. We started with 24 pots, and added 24 more but still not enough.

I liked ornamental plants and so I purchased rain lilies, forget-me-nots, begonias and plant with purple flowers(forgot to ask the plant's name). I'm currently half-way through with re-planting to the pots.

I really hope that these plants will thrive and grow. I'm so happy with the rain lilies because they really are flowering alternately so there isn't a time when there are no flowers.

I'll update this post once all the pots are up. I still need about 36 pots so the wall will look full as well as  greener.
